Georgia Best Management Practice (BMPs)

Length: 2 Hours

This course will cover a review of BMP’s, understanding when they are required and by whom, the three keys to BMP’s, vegetative practices and structural practices.

NCCER Your Role in the Green Environment

Length: 8 hours (Estimated)

Upon completion of this course you should be able to describe the major challenges to the green environment that are caused by the built environment, identify and prioritize your decisions and actions in your personal and work life that impact the green environment, describe the life cycle phases of a building and the impacts on the green environment over its life cycle, identify green alternatives to conventional building practices and describe the pros and cons, describe the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and identify construction activities that increase and decrease a projects LEED rating.

NPDES Level 1A

Length: 8 Hours

In this course you will learn to implement an effective Erosion and Control Program. Learn NPDES document requirements, learn to properly inspect BMP’s and you will obtain your Level 1A Certification. A written exam is given at the end of the class. A citizenship verification is required for all applicants taking this course.

NPDES Level 1A Re-Certification

Length: 4 Hours

This is a 4-hour class that has been prepared by the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission and is presented by a GSWCC authorized trainer. Recertification for NPDES Level 1A Certified Personnel is required by the Commission every three years. The following items are reviewed with updates and changes presented: Background of the impact of House Bill 285 of 2003, Erosion and Sedimentation (E & S) Processes and Enforcement, The Georgia Erosion and Sedimentation Act, Stream Buffer Requirements, National Pollutant Discharge, Elimination System (NPDES) Permit, Vegetative Measures for E & S Control, Structural Practices for E & S Control, Field Maintenance of Structural & Vegetative Best Management Practices, Resource Information, Review of NOI and NOT Requirements and Protocol and roles of local, county, state, and federal agencies in E & SC. A citizenship verification is required for all applicants taking this course.

NPDES Level 1B

Length: 16 hours (2 Days)

This is a two day class with an exam at the end. This class has been prepared by the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission and is presented by a GSWCC authorized trainer. Attendees must present photo identification before taking the test, which is proctored by a proctor authorized by the GSWCC. The class covers background of the impact of House Bill 285 of 2003, erosion and sedimentation (E & S) processes and enforcement, The Georgia Erosion and Sedimentation Act, stream buffer requirements, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit, vegetative measures for E & S Control, structural practices for E & S Control, field maintenance of structural & vegetative Best Management Practices, Resource Information, requirements for LIA and EPD enforcement inspectors and protocol and roles of local, county, state and federal agencies in E & SC. Students who pass the exam will receive their certification from the GSWCC within 60 days. Persons who have had a similar approved class / seminar within the last three years may sit for the exam only. A citizenship verification is required for all applicants taking this course.

NPDES Level 1B Re-Certification

Length: 4 Hours

This is a 4-hour class that has been prepared by the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission and is presented a GSWCC authorized trainer. Re-certification for NPDES Level 1B Enforcement inspectors is required by the Commission every three years. The following items are reviewed with updates and changes presented: Background of the impact of House Bill 285 of 2003, Erosion and Sedimentation (E & S) Processes and Enforcement, The Georgia Erosion and Sedimentation Act, Stream Buffer Requirements, National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit, Vegetative Measures for E & S Control, Structural Practices for E & S Control, Field Maintenance of Structural & Vegetative Best Management Practices, Resource Information, Requirements for LIA and EPD enforcement inspectors and Protocol and roles of local, county, state and federal agencies in E & SC. A citizenship verification is required for all applicants taking this course increase and decrease a projects LEED rating.

NPDES Level 2 Re-Certification

Length: 4 Hours

This is a 4-hour class that has been prepared by the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission and is presented by a GSWCC authorized trainer. Recertification for NPDES Level II Certified Designer/Plan Reviewer is required by the Commission every three years. The following items are reviewed with updates and changes presented: GESA and NPDES Permit Updates, Manual for Erosion and Sediment Control in Georgia (Green Book) updates, State Waters and Stream Buffer Requirements, Erosion Control Plan Checklist Procedures, Vegetative Measures for E & S Control, Structural Practices for E & S Control, Field Maintenance of Structural & Vegetative Best Management Practices, Stormwater Management, Resource Information, Review of NOI and NOT Requirements and Protocol and roles of local, county, state, and federal agencies in E & SC. A citizenship verification is required for all applicants taking this course.

NPDES Sub Awareness

Length: 2 Hours

Length: 2 hours
The Subcontractor Awareness Seminar is a 2-hour course with no exam designed to provide the mandatory 3-year certification to individuals with an overview of: Erosion and sedimentation and the impacts they have on the environment, Best Management Practices (BMPs), and the laws governing erosion and sedimentation. Attendees include: Septic tank installers, Surveyors, Irrigation system personnel, Landscape personnel, Utility personnel, Plumbers and electricians, or any other personnel involved in land disturbing activities acting as a subcontractor. A citizenship verification is required for all applicants taking this course.
